What is Ebike?
Ebike is a term used to describe an electric bike. This is quite simply a bicyle with an electric motor to assist you as you cycle. Not a particularly new concept, the worlds first ebikes were invented around the 1890's! Back then the concept was alarmingly similar to how it is now.
An electric motor assists you as you cycle with energy from a battery, which has been charged up beforehand. Modern eBikes assist you as you pedal, as opposed to using a throttle to power you without pedalling. This is the most efficient way to power an eBike

Centre Drive:
The electric motor is mounted in the centre of the bike. Simple wheel removal, fantastic hill climbing ability and fully sealed for reliability.
Hub Drive:
The electric motor is mounted in the hub of one of the bikes wheels. This simple drive offers great value and performance.
Lightweight Lithium Battery:
Cutting edge batter technology, lithium is the latest and lightest technology to be used with eBikes. All our batteries carry a 2 year warranty.
26" Wheels:
This wheel size is more commonly found on mountain bikes. A 26" wheel can carry a larger volume tyre, so is ideally suited to more aggressive terrain, and will offer more rider comfort.
700c" Wheels:
This wheel size is traditionally found on hybird bikes, the larger the wheel means it rolls faster, offers less resistance amd is more efficient.
Hub Gears:
The gear changing mechanism is inside the rear hub, making it fully sealed Ideally suited to leisure users and commuters, gears can be changed whilst stationary. As this system is fully sealed it offers maxium durability.
Derailleur Gears:
The most commonly found gear system on modern bikes, this is simple and cost effective. The gear change is slighter faster, and gears can be changed quickly under load.
MTB Style:
The ride position of the eBike is much more sporty, offering the rider a much more efficient position.
Comfort Position:
The ride position of the eBike is very upright, offering you the most comfort.
Torque Sensor:
This is very clever little sensor that can tell how much pressure you are putting on the pedals. The more pressure you apply, the more assistance the system give you.

Dover Information
Dover The Dover 3spd is a classic cruiser running on 700c wheels. Designed to be comfortable and efficient, the centre drive motor and adjustable ride position makes this the ultimate lesure bike.
The Technology
The Dover contains the Panasonic Centre drice unit. This is a fully sealed motor unit that drives the chain, making full use of the available gears. Perfect weight distribution, plenty of torque and maximum effciency make this our premium eBike range.
Centre Drive Motor
Utilizing the Panasonic Centre drive motor means that the 250W of electric assistance drives through the chain. This means the power is driven through the gears, giving it unparalleled hill climbing performance. Having the motor mounted in the centre means the eBike handles like a conventional cycle.
Torque Sensor
The Panasonic motor uses an in-built torque sensor, that measures your pedalling input. This means the power application is smooth and progressive, giving you a controlled and quiet ride.

The Technology

Intelligent Torque Sensor
This clever little sensor measures the pressure that you put on the peddals, and distributes power accordingly. This creates a smooth and progressive feel to the bike, usually only found on much more expensive machines.
LCD Display
The LCD Display give an accurate display of your speed, battery charge, assistance mode and distance. Include a backlight funtion and basic speedometer features.
Hub Motor
250W brushless hub motor. This Motor is nylon-geared to provide a quiet, powerful boost of assistance as you pedal.

Freego Battery
Understanding The Battery...
The performance of an electric bike is measured by its ability to climb hills and how far it will run on the flat at a constant speed. This depends on a light frame, low friction and a highly efficient electric motor but also on the energy stored in the battery. The energy stored is the fuel for the bike!
Useful technical battery info...
In a battery of specified voltage V energy stored is measured in ampere hours (Ah). This measure indicates how many hours a battery can produce a fixed current - amps A.
Many electric bikes today use 24 V batteries rather than the 12 V familiar to us in car batteries. To produce the same power measured in watts, which is volts times amps (V x A) a higher voltage motor of the same power will need less current. A lower current allows the use of thinner lighter wires and a lighter motor to deliver the same power.
The FreeGo bikes have been designed for the next performance step and are therefore supplied with 36 V batteries. These have a capacity of either 10 Ah for the lithium ion battery or 17.5 Ah for the lighter lithium polymer battery (used in model helicopters). We can supply electric motors with output powers of 200 W and 250 W for those who require more acceleration. The combination of the high voltage 36 V 17.5 Ah battery gives our flagship FreeGo Eagle range the best performance of any electric bike in the world.
At FreeGo Electric Bikes we can also interchange 17.5 Ah batteries on all our Eagle and Kingfisher electric bike range.
Anyone who wants to be able to travel long distances and up many hills should choose a 36V 17.5Ah.

Electric Bikes
Many of PowaCycle’s competitors in the UK supply “Pedelecs”, where power assistance is controlled by pedalling the electric vehicle or electric bike.
With a Pedelec, as soon as you begin pedalling, the motor supplies power, making cycling seem effortless. This motor power supports the users' pedalling effort. The faster you pedal, the more power you will get from the motor. When you stop pedalling, the motor assistance also ceases until you start pedalling again.

Powacycle Benifits
PowaCycle electric bikes offer Triple Mode, i.e. they are also “Pedelecs”, but in addition they can operate under independent motor power alone.
The three modes for our electric bikes are as follows:
Why Triple Mode Is Best For
Mode 1 - Assisted Power – “Pedelec” – Where the motor only works whilst you are pedalling. UK Law sets a maximum speed of 15mph in this mode. Once you exceed this speed the power assistance will cease.
Mode 2 - Motor Power Only – One of PowaCycle’s electric bikes unique features is that our electric bikes also have an independent throttle on the handlebar, so that you can regulate power independently of pedalling. Note – This mode is mainly for use on flat surfaces. Cycling on a slope or incline should be done in Pedelec mode. UK Law sets a maximum speed of 15mph in this mode.
Mode 3 - Cycling Only – Without Motor Assist There is NO Maximum speed limit for this mode of operation.
